Any ideas what's wrong with my leg??

Question:
I can't walk on my right leg, when I try it feels 'weak' and painful and I fall over. the pain is coming from (let me try to explain): the top of the thigh that is connected into the hip if that makes sense. there is no pain in the thigh itself, more like a muscle or bone that is connecting the two parts INSIDE. I can't even lift my right leg to cross it over my left without extreme pain. my thighs are the biggest part of my body (thunder thighs, i guess) which makes me over weight.what's going on with this pain? how can I make it go away?

Answers:
Hi there,

What this sound like is sciatica pain. The longest nerve in your body, the sciatic nerve, starts at the lumbar spine and descends downward to the top of the thigh and down past the knee. Sciatica is something that most men and women have to deal with, as there is no cure for this pain.

You suggested in your post that you are overweight and carry most of your weight in your legs- the sciatic pain can be eased by trying to lose the weight that you bear down on your legs. A little bit will make a huge difference. Also, try to strengthen your legs a bit by using small, remedial exercises such as laying on your back and trying to extend your legs straight up. This will loosen the nerve and may help with any pinches or compressions that are occurring in the thigh area.

A tingling or sharp-shooting pain that causes you to actually fall is not normal to experience. If you ever lose feeling in any part of your leg, consult with a neurologist. You may have the lumbar spine pressing or compressing the nerve to cause this pain, which is not good because if this continues to be compressed, this could lead to chronic pain and/or a paralyzed leg(s).

When in doubt, consult your doctor and a specialty doctor, like a neurologist.

well if you're under 18 it's because you're getting tall,if not it could be broken
go to a doctor NOW!
Does multiple sclerosis run in your family at all?
see your doctor. and eat less and exercise more.
If it were me I would just go to the garage and cut it off. Why go through the pain and you will lose weight too.
uhhh, go to a dr..it may be serious

or

it may be asleep and be fine in 2 minutes

or it may be someone elses leg disguised as your own
that happened to me too. i dont know what it was but it kept hurting for a whole week
The best thing for you to do is go to the doctor. It would probably be best if you could get someone to drive you.
It could be a tendon tear in your hip flexors. If that is the case, you'll need to immobilize it until it heals. Go to a doctor to get it checked out.
Pinched nerve maybe? Did you have a recent injury?
Hi,

You either have a 'dicky' hip joint, so off to the doctors or you have a trapped sciatic nerve, off to the doctors.

Can you see a pattern developing, you have got it, go to the doctors!!

Skip
I'm in no way a doctor so dont take my answer as gospel but it sounds as if you have a pinched nerve in your back right above the hip. You need to go to a dr and have them evaluate it.
Go to an orthopedic specialist. Get a referral from your regular Dr. If you need one. I had hip pain similar to that, but my hip was coming out of joint. The Dr. Did surgery. In my case I was pre-disposed to problems with my legs due to Cerebral Palsy, a birth defect I have. If it is sharp pain in the hip joint when you move, you may need to see a doctor. Good luck.
Go to the ER NOW! Thunder thighs will not give the symptoms you describe. Sounds more like you have some sort of infection or flesh eating virus. OK the flesh eating thing is harsh, but I do want you to see a Dr, so a little scare tactic is alright...right?
Its hard to say what is really going on. Either you have a pulled hamstring or a fracture to your long bone in your leg (femur). Regardless you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Good Luck.
You could have fractured your hip or upper femur. Did you recently fall, or run into something? I recently started feeling a lot of pain in my ankle and after a few days I could not take it anymore, had it checked out by a orthopedic surgeon, and voila, it was fractured! I could have done it any time (I walk, run a lot, and sometimes twist my ankle). Anyway, have it checked out just in case. Also, you may have a problem with a vertebrae. If one is pinching a nerve in your spine, it can often affect (cause numbness AND pain) your upper legs. Why risk doing more damage, just get it checked out by a professional.
its fine going through those stuff the best way to relax it is 1hour leave a ice pack on your leg wait for 3hours if it hurts put a hot water on it (heatingbag) on it
you need to get to your doctor immediately. it's better to be safe than sorry
I'd definitely go see a doctor or try webmd
