Is it acid reflux or is it a sphinter muscle problem? How can you have too much acid in your stomach?

Question:
I feel that the muscles (sphincter) are becoming not as elastic as to hold in the acid, and it leaks into the throat.

Answers:
If you think you might have acid reflux, you should see a doctor soon. Without medication the acid damages your esophagus and ultimately requires surgery.
Acid Reflux occurs when the sphincter doesn't close properly. It should be a one-way valve that keeps acids from backing up into the esophagus. Perhaps you should visit your doctor and have him/her take a look. May need an upper GI scope to see what's going on.
yes it can be to much acid in the stomach im 15 and i have acid reflux alot and my ped said its not normal for teens my age but he said it can happen from certain foods or liquids! good luck try these pills called acid reducers they are great!
The problem is not too much acid in the stomach. The problem is when the acid leaves your stomach and goes else where.
acid reflux is a sphincter muscle problem. the muscle that closes your stomach or the gastroesophageal junction keeps the acid in and if it doesn't do it's job you have reflux. its not necessarily about them being elastic or not its more to do with whats going on in your stomach, like if you have too much acid production or if anatomically there is something wrong like a hernia
They are the same thing. Acid reflux is when your sphincter doesn't close completely. Over production of stomach acid is common and caused by many things and usually temporary. If it becomes chronic, you may need to see a doctor and have it dealt with via medication, e,g, Nexium...good luck
It may also be ulcers. I think I have ulcers.
Acid reflux is an abnormal condition in which acid produced in the stomach flows back into the esophagus, causing heartburn.
The sphincter muscle at the lower end of the esophagus acts like a valve that allows movement in one direction, only from the esophagus into the stomach. In case this sphincter works improperly and relaxes as following the intake of fatty foods, stomach juice containing acid refluxes upwards into the esophagus.
Too much acid in the stomach is another cause of reflux and results from heavy meals, citrus fruits, coffee and alcohol.
Heartburn has many causes. They can be classified into 2 categories:

1)Weakness of the Lower Eosophagus Sphincter (LES)

2)Too much acid into the stomach
