Will Medicare pay thr hospital if the patient goes home AMA?

Question:
I have heard of a patient walking out of the hospital or going home without their Dr releasing them. And I was wondering if they was on mecdcare would it pay for the time they was in the hospital? Will the hospital accept them back after leaving AMA? that is if they needed to go back to the hospital.

Answers:
I don't know about paying the medical bills but yes a doctor will take the patient back after they have left AMA
It's anybody's guess what CMS will pay for in that situation, and you certainly can't count on Uncle Sam picking up the bill, though it can happen. If the flap is over a simple difference of opinion, the hospital will normally be happy to have the patient return. If as often happens the patient insults everybody within earshot on his way out the door, making a real scene, he may be less welcome. I even know of a couple of cases in which the patient called the doctor and hospital a bunch of incompetents, initiated a lawsuit, and then returned for further care! Nothing surprises me any more.
