Is Sunlight Good For Your Skin?
Question:
Answers:
sunlight is good for your skin because when the rays hit your skin, the skin produces some special "chemical" that helps your body. that's why people who don't go out in the sun get sick a lot. too much sunlight is, of course, bad for you hence getting sunburned, but not getting any sunlight is bad too. basically, it is good in small periods of exposure.
Sunlight contains vit D. You need vit D to be able to absorb calcium in your bones. If you don't have enough calcium in your bones your prone to get fractures and maybe osteoporosis.
NO. CANCER.
It helps the body manufacture vitamin D. That is the only benefit I know of. I stay out of the sun as much as possible.
Sunlight used to be good for you in many ways, such as vitamin d assimulation. However, because of the ozone hole, a lot more dangerous energy is in sunlight and thus, more carcinogenic. Skin cancer is on the rise.
You need a little sunlight. About 20 minutes a day provides you with your daily supply of vitamin D. However, too much sunlight of any kind will cause premature aging, freckles and moles, and possibly cancer. This applies, even more so, to artifical sunlight in tanning beds, as that is much more concentrated than natural light. You should always use sunscreen.
It does get your body to produce some vitamin D, but you can get that from foods, too. Some people say it helps clear up acne a bit, but in the long run, the risks of cancer make both reasons sort of pointless. Stick to sunscreen, and if you like to be outside with a little natural tan, just make sure you don't burn. I've been told that every time you get a really bad burn, you double your chances of getting skin cancer later, so really watch it. Tanning beds are horrible for you because they're basically flooding your body with a lot of UV badness all at once. Natural, gradual and in moderation is the key!
Sunlight is good for your skin up to a point. I mean if you lived in the dark that would be unhealthy. But if it's sunny where you are, staying out in the sun, prolonged exposure, is not good.
Lift up your arm and look at the difference between the outside of the arm and the inside, the part of the upper arm that goes next to the body. The difference is caused by sunlight!
Also if you have moles you have a good chance of getting melanomas. I have a few moles, and the last time I got a physical my Dr. made me talk to a dermatologist. She told me that just the average person walking around these days has about a 1 in 80 chance of getting a melanoma, but with moles it's as much as 2 or 3 times that bad! (Melanoma is a skin cancer that appears as a mole growing into a big black spot.)
Yes, your body absorbs vitamin D through sunlight. 15 minutes will do you though. You won't absorb much, if any at all, after that point.
