I'm in Mapleton, New Jersey, and I want to find someone whom I can talk to regarding my alcohol addiction.

Question:
I really want to discuss this with a stranger. Not a stranger that I can eventually be friends with. Just a stranger who would listen to my thoughts and maybe offer a few pieces of advice and help me get my act together. Maybe some of you know of helplines... or maybe give me contact numbers of some addiction treatment centers?

Answers:
The links below will be able to help you in finding addiction treatment centers. :)
And I do know a helpline that you could call. It's 800-559-9503.

I understand that you would want to talk to a stranger about this. I too, am an introvert, and when things are bugging me, I find that it's better sometimes to keep it to myself rather than talk to a friend or family member. However, when you just can't hold it inside you, and you have to talk to someone else, helplines are great. :) I do hope that you get yourself treated soon.

This seams like a very good site and they can call you if you want.
Check out AA meetings in your area. If you're not sure where to look, your church - or the church in your area - may have listings. or a neighborhood hospital may have listings.

When you go to a meeting simply let them know you're looking for a sponsor - or just someone to talk to. If you don't feel like attending the meeting, you might ask some of the people hanging around before the meeting begins. You're all there for the same reason - and one of those reasons is to HELP EACH OTHER.

BEST OF LUCK. It's very promising that you want to speak with someone.
Im a recovering alcoholic and I can tell you that if you want help and you want to stop drinking their is only one way, and thats joining AA, Ive been sober for 8 years and AA was what saved me, you can go to rehab you can call hotlines and thats all well and good but AA is the way to go, their are people in the meetings that have gone thru everything you are and then some, also have you hit your bottom yet? I only wish my husband would join AA, he is such a good person and I love him to death but if he does,nt get help soon I may have to leave, this is a awful disease, and keep in mind this is a family disease, whoever is around you wife-girl friend, mom or dad, anyone for that matter will suffer along with you, so therefore I recomend that they also may want to attend Alanon meetings, I hope you get the help you need and believe me your already heading down the right road by wanting help, so good luck! Mapleton should try AA he should look into the telephone directory for the no#,or he could try a local church they are always willing to help.
