Cold medicine such as Contact or the other over-the-counter brands will help alleviate the symptoms (achy, stuffy, etc.) but you won't cure yourself of it until it's run its course.
A cold is a virus running rampant through your body. Those symptoms you feel is your body fighting back. It will simply take time for your bod to defeat the virus, so the best way to be rid of that cold, is to help your body dedicate itself to defense:
1. Rest
2. Lots of fluids (will help flush your system)
3. Vitamin C (helps defense, though some new research will disagree on this point. It can't hurt)
4. Calories (for energy) Don't eat junk food. Stick to the good stuff.
