I'm leaving for the beach tomorrow and just got poison ivy...?

Question:
I picked open a few of them thinking it was just a small rash and then it spread to my shin..(I have it on my butt and chin) I treated it with calamine lotion, some kind of laundry soap (bar) and an oatmeal bath and took a benedryl..is there anything I can't do at the beach?? Should I do something else!! Thanks in advance (Im 13)

Answers:
Try Clorox Bleach it will dry it out and take away the itch.
put aloe vera on that rash
Use lots of calamine lotion and keep yourself from scratching no matter how much you want to. I have some too! On my leg. You can swim and everything at the beach. If it gets hot from the sun it may get itchier.
If you are going to the ocean beach (salt water) - that will be good for it.
get in the shower and run really warm(hot as you can stand without burning your skin) water over the places for a few minutes...you will get 6-8 hours of relief from the itching
Take it from a life-long poison ivy sufferer- scratch it until it is all open, and pour bleach on it. It won't sting the way you think it might, and it does not help the itching. However, it kills it. I've also used gasoline, but I do not recommend that. As far as the beach goes, don't worry about it. It won't help or hurt your ivy.
treat it as you would normally. then at the beach swim alot in the ocean the salt water will help dry it out. be careful
I would keep doing what you are doing, but as soon as you get to the beach get in the water. I have always been told that seawater is good for the skin. it will help dry out the infected area, and is not as bad as bleach.
