I've a wondering mind.Just about everything. Can't concentrate for 5 straight mins & this affects my studies

Question:
I'm a PhD student. I lack a retentive memory. Hard to remember anything I read when relaxed. I understand better when under pressure but the stress caused by pressure makes me confused on the things I already understand and there is no coordination. I've been advised to relax, take a vacation, sleep well, eat well but that doesn't seem to help much. I am worried about the effect of this on my career. PLEASE I NEED HELP! THANKS, GOD BLESS

Answers:
Is it possible you suffer from depression or ADHD? If you're diagnosed, please be VERY careful about any medication prescribed. Many of the pharmaceuticals can be extremely dangerous -- and even lethal -- to some people.

Other Answers:
ADHD try that!
Take up meditation, That will help all of the wondering problems to be solved, then you can concentrait!
I have the same problem. I meditate when I wake up before breakefast and the day is heaps clearer!
I hope this helps!
wow... and you managed to make it to the PHD level...

just think of how much you like the subject and smile when you are thinking of the topic.

smiling helps keep the stress at bay.. :)
You may have adult attention deficit hyper-activity disorder, however I'm wouldn't jump to any conclusions without seeing a psychologist. I must disagree with at least one of the posters above in that the medications prescribed for adult ADHD are not harmfull or deadly in adults. Any of the serious side effects releated to ADHD meds that I've read about have been situatuions with children taking high dose medication for an extended period of time. However, you may want to consider other life stressors or factors that may impinge on your retention concerns before you see a doctor (although it sounds from the wording of your questions that you have already done so). I wish you the best of luck.
