we ARE animals. do you think we could be happier if we accepted this and took better care of our natural side?
Question:
i think happiness is found by satisfying our primitive-preprogrammed instincts, feelings, desires, etc. because that is who we are, those things are in the very genetic make-up that make us who we are. not bigger appliances.
i think in our modern world we have completely forgotten where we came from or who we are. and no wonder no ones happy. we have replaced our primitve internal needs with the telivision. we are denying ourselves of the most basic and deep rooted part of ourselves. sunshine, companionship, physical activity, sex, adrenaline, etc.
i like this philosophy. what do you think?
Answers:
I think that you are right to some degree. But we are more then animals, but unfortunately people have often times replaced tv or computers for human interaction and intimacy. In fact many people don't know what real intimacy is, they think it is sex. That is a form of it, but emotional intimacy goes much deeper and that is what is so sadly lacking in todays society. Getting in touch with nature and our surroundings is very healthy. Sharing these experiences is great too, take your loved one for a walk into nature. But to say we are just animals is missing the boat by a long shot. Good Luck!

I totally agree. After my cancer diagnosis, I really felt this way. Yes, we are intellectual and sophistocated, but we are still animals susceptible to disease, natural reactions such as fear, conditioned behavior, etc. It helped me to think this way in order to know that the cancer could affect any of us-it is not personal.
