When I worry and expereince anxiety I turn to internet sites?

Question:
this wastes away my life and affects my personality. When I am cheerful and positive I seem to involve myself with more constructive past-times. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Any suggestions on how to conquer the worry and anxiety?

Christians: I already know your answers, so please refrain from telling me to ask Jesus for help. Thank you

Answers:
I do this too. I got to the point where I could spend all day on the computer.
Turned out I was depressed.
I am feeling much better and I am now out most nights with a group of new friends. I didn't try and stop going on the internet everyday it just sort of happend when I wasn't looking if you know what I mean.
I still go on when I am feeling down but usually now I am just too busy!
Don't worry about if you are on there or not but try and think why you might be worried and feeling anxious. I don't think being on the internet is a problem it is just a symptom of something else. I used the internet as an escape. What are you escaping from?

You can always go and see your doctor and he might get you to talk to a counsellor or something which is nothing to be scared of.

By the way I love your comment about Christians!

he. same is the case with me

catch 22, the Internet seems like a safe environment to share fears on in an anonymous presentation. You get responses on the computer from real people yet they are not really in front of you, so you do not really feel alone.
When I have had problems I have had my cybermates come to the rescue, it made me feel alive, and, in fact, helped me in keeping my husband alive. Thank goodness for that as we have 4 kids to rear together.
Anyway, I am not sure I have helped you. Thing is, yes, the Internet is helpful when we are anxious or worried, with careful note to whom you give information to.
Other than that, maintaining a blog is a fun thing to do and you get comments from other people that make it even more fun. That is the flip side :)

yes, ive been there, still am to a degree

do you find that you have somewhat of an addictive personality?

Look on the bright side, its not like you are using drugs to escape, or blindly watching tv , the net can be productive in some ways.

May i suggest though, substitute walking for say an hour each day. It can help a lot.
