SSDI Court Appearance?

Question:
I have applied for SSDI 4 times and been denied 3 times, as I am told that is quite normal. I have my court date (finally! after three years!) on October 30th. I was wondering if any of you have experience and/or suggestions for court. What do I need, how should I present myself. I do have a lawyer...but he's completely unreliable, but alas, he's also free. Anyway suggestions welcome!

Answers:
Are you sure your lawyer is really "free"? He might not have charged you anything yet, but most SSDI attorneys are working on a "contingency fee" basis, which means they get 1/3 of whatever you get.

If you are doing all the work, you should get all the money. My advice - fire your "lawyer," and go it on your own. Wear the cleanest nice-looking clothes you have to court. Be on time. Be respectful. Tell the truth. Good luck!
Yes i went with a few people...Depends what your disability is...They didn't have a lawyer, we went in a room, there was a large table, three people from there side, one was a doctor. They ask some question, it was really simple and quick, all the people i went in with were approved...Your right about it taking along time, i hope you get approved and make sure you get paid from the day you applied...They may only give you a years worth but hey, wait till you see that check...Good Luck...
