Anyone have any experience with cognitive therapy?

Answers:
Sort of, I've been seeing the same psychologist for a couple years and have been able to make use of some cognitive techniques. Basically, the way it works is you're trying to isolate any thoughts that come to mind JUST BEFORE a given emotion or impulse or whatever it is you are trying to understand. The preceding thoughts that come up are almost always split second ones, real fast, real easy to miss them completely, but with practice you can catch them. The place to start (outside of the doctors office) is to be mindful throughout the day of these "flash thoughts," try to stop immediately after having an impulse you wish to understand and try to remember what came to mind just before it. This also works in the doctor's office as well. The things that come to mind during these moments can be instrumental in furthering your understanding of yourself.
