how do you call thoughs suicide hotlines? how much do they cost?
Question:
Answers:
They are usually free of charge. Try google, or the yellow pages under mental health, or In the US, start with 1(800) 784-2433(1-800 suicide) or 1(800) 273-8255(1-800-273 talk). Government and hospital agencies can also provide local numbers. Most universities also have the numbers.
Medical privacy act restricts distributing information you give to a hot-line or counselor or doctor to anyone except an affiliated counselor/clinician/Dr without your written permission.
Police can be notified if the hot-line thinks your are in immediate danger of harming yourself.
Second Question:
Does it show up on the phone bill? Usually not, because they are toll free numbers. If your cell phone bill details all numbers called, it might show up as a 1-800 number, but probably wouldn't attract enough attention for those with access to your cell phone bill to worry. Do you have free nights and weekends on your cell plan, or maybe have a friend with a cell that doesn't detail calls? Or even access to a landline phone? Landline phones don't list calls to 800 numbers.
Best to you
Other Answers:
They're free. As a general rule, any number that starts with "1-800" is free to call from anywhere, and suicide hotlines never charge people.
Here's a site that can give you suicide hotlines by state, or general suicide hotlines:
http://suicidehotlines.com/
Try google, many have 1800 numbers because this is a life emergency, no person should have to choose whether to pay 2.95 a minute or not recieve counseling
You simply call the number, and the people you talk to are great! They have a lot of input, and they really do care. They are really good at what they do. YOu dont have to give any personal info or anything like that. They are free too!
they're called suicide hotlines & they're free to call...they usually have an 1-800 number that doesn't charge you for the call. You could probably look one up on line if you need it or your local phone book.
