People who label things?

Can anyone give me answers as to why a person would label things...such as..MY ice cream. I have to have MY potatoes. I know someone who labels everything she talks about..if she goes for a walk...it's her walk. I went on MY walk...not I went for a walk. I find this very odd.

I think it's just human nature to claim things in this way and a force of habit. Also it could be a sign that someone's very insecure and has a need to claim things.
