Make sure you are really tired when you go to bed. Make sure you get up early so you will be tired when it is time to sleep. No daytime napping. Establish a bedtime routine. No tv in the bedroom. Perhaps a book to read until you nod off. Have a turkey sandwich and a glass of milk before bed, those in combination are like talking a natural sleeping pill. Good luck.
exhaustion. best though is learn relaxation, self hypnosis. clear your mind, and you'll sleep. sweet dreams!!
Aromatherapy

Some oils like lavender oil can be bought at most supermarkets and pharmacies. The oils can be put in steaming water and inhaled. This can help to relax the body, helping one to sleep better.

Massage

A massage can help to relieve tension and stress, thus allowing one to sleep better.

Herbal Cures

Herbs concoction can also help people with insomnia to sleep. Some herbal treatment for insomnia include herb teas, tinctures, pillow stuffed with herbs, herbal bath and message oil made of herbs.

Sleep habits

Sometimes, some habits might help or affect a person's ability to fall asleep.

Sleeping in a well-ventilated room that has circulating fresh air helps.

Use the bed only for sleep. Avoid reading, working or watching television in bed. The mind needs to associate the bed as a place for rest.

Sleep and wake up at the same time everyday. The body will be able to associate a specific time of the day for sleeping, and for waking up.

Avoiding naps will cause the person to be more tired at bedtime and more able to fall asleep.
Maybe hot cocoa, hot milk, hot bath, read a boring book, stay up until you get sleepy, watch TV, or lay down where it is very quiet and get really still and close your eyes. I still like to take Valerian Root. I take 3 about an hour before bedtime and they really relax me. So far I have not noticed any side effects.
Meditation
Read a book

Dang, I am out of ideas all ready.
A BJ usually does it for me.
Lights off, dark room. Soft, soothing music in the air. If possible, scent in the room (aroma oil). Concentrate on your breathing, gently. You'll sleep in no time! Works for me :-)
Meditation works wonders, feel free to email me if you want a few guidelines on which meditation practice may suit.If that concept doesent feel right you could try a wonderful audio programme called "holosync", you can research this at centerpointe.com. On an organic level you may like to try a marvellous product containing certain amounts of melatonin which is a wonderful sleep inducer. The product is Sour cherry juice if you google 'kings orchards" you will access a great amount of information on this great product. Hope this will be of some help to you good luck! and sweet dreams!
One thing that works for me is the color : true blue.
The energy of that frequency is relaxing.
I find that burning a deep-royal-blue light bulb for 15 minutes (the one I've used just happens to be 40 watts) -- either alone, or with a brighter reading light -- has both my eyes falling shut, & the book falling out of my hands -- after about 15 minutes. In other words, in order to stay awake I'd have to FIGHT it!
