What would you do if someone confessed a crime to you before they commited suicide.?

Ireally would rather not have known what they told me because it haunts me.

This is difficult to understand. The person who confessed to you, trusted you enough to tell you what they did. Be glad you are someone a person can come to and trust. The real burden doesn't fall on you. You have not committed the crime, or killed yourself. That person has gone to rest in peace. You are alive! You will live on, and forget this in time. Please, don't be tormented by what is past.

I probably would go to the police. Otherwise the police may be wasting their time going after the crime person when they could better use their time solving other crimes.

That would depend on the nature of the crime.

I mean I could probably let parking tickets slide, but I would probably want to let family members know if he/she was a murderer, so that they could have some closure.

It depends on the crime. If they confessed to you then they probably wanted it known unless of course then told you differently.

ask yourself this-- would reporting the crime bring relief to a victim or victims family- then you should contact police-- if there were no victims- then i would tell someone you trust just to get it off your chest

Well, if u did go to the police after the person kill itself, they wouldnt believe you, so I would ask for this person to put it in writting because someone else may be in jail for it. Then I would try to get this person to think before it did anything to harm itself, he/she would not only end its life, but ruin and traumatize the lives of its loved ones.

That depends on the "crime". If it's running a red light, forget it. If it's murder, hmmmm.......whadyathink?

Death-bed confessions are to make the dying feel better. What is done with the information is up to you. As a victim I would want to know that one of the persons last thoughts was on what he/she did to me.
