the first case of this disorder was discovered in 1784 by the Marquis de Puysegur and was called "magnetic sleep" 7 years years later , in 1791 the first published account of multiple personalities was written by Eberhard Gmelin along with his treatment of the woman for her illness.

I do not "know" who discovered it but i know that Dr. Wilbur brought it to the spotlight in america when she diagnosed "Sybil Dorsett" with the disorder type her name in a search engine and u can find out more hope this helps.
