Who discovered the Multiple Personality Dissorder?

Question:
I am writing a reasearch paper and am having a difficult time in finding out who discovered this dissorder. Also can anyone tell me when it was discovered?

Answers:
the first case of this disorder was discovered in 1784 by the Marquis de Puysegur and was called "magnetic sleep" 7 years years later , in 1791 the first published account of multiple personalities was written by Eberhard Gmelin along with his treatment of the woman for her illness.

Other Answers:
Multiple personality disorder is now called dissociative identity disorder as it is more accurate to say so.
It is hard to say this person "discovered" this disease. But there are many who wrote about the disease not really naming it as MPD. You can read about the whole controversy and the history in the Website below and wikipedia. Good luck.
The history is given in this website:

Wikipedia also is very accurate.
