Anyone ever........?
Question:
He captured the moment perfectly, don't you think ?
Answers:
Absolutely. It was in Grad School, when I was finishing my first Master's program.
I had developed an extraordinarily accurate predictor of all financial data, and showed the interconnectedness and relationships of all financial data. Basically, I looked at the string theory of management that came from the 1978 Rio rounds, and adapted it to financial data. This was my Master's program, and took nearly two years to develop into a fully operational model architecture.
I had the information and the data in the university computer, because it was too big for anything except a number of tape drives. I was GTA for a Dean, so I used his account to be able to do this kind of work.
Internet was called Relaynet back then, and we had to spin a crank on the side of the computer to boot up. :-)
I had oral exams scheduled for a week later. I got up from the computer while it was finallizing the paper, and a student from another university, sat down at the machine and destroyed my information.(It would have taken hours to save, if I could have used the tape drives to save). The student who destroyed my work, had developed my trust over a period of several weeks.
It took me another four months to put the model back together after I got out of the hospital, "for exhaustion".
