II feel like i am slowly losing my confidence and memory. Why?

Question:
I just entered the M.Sc program at a prominent university, however ever since I entered, even though I am doing well in my classes, I am forgetting improtant details, names, dates, facts that I need to know, etc and I feel like my confidence has been shattered. My peers are all extremely intelligent and if anything, it feels quite daunting. As well, my supervisor is an extremely intilligent fellow and I feel like I have all of these expectations to meet that I can't. Why do I feel like my mental state is just not what it used to be? Also, any suggestions on things to do to help regain my confidence and earlier state?

Answers:
Anytime we are under stress, and you definitely are, it can affect our ability to remember, concentrate, etc., so in effect, your mental state isn't what it used to be at the moment because your stress levels are way up. You need to get back to what you had prior to entering the program. While your peers are intelligent, you, too, are obviously extremely intelligent or you never would have gotten into the program in the first place, so give yourself some credit. Sounds like your worry about not being able to cut it is what's causing most of your stress and the one thing I have come to realize over the years is that worry never solved anything. Quit worrying about the future and concentrate on the now. Do your best because the best is all you can do. If your best is not good enough, you'll find out soon enough, but there is no reason to worry about it. Quit comparing yourself to your peers, just do your best. If it's any consolation, I find that it's the intelligent people who don't give themselves enough credit. Why? Because they think too much! So stop putting so much thought into your problem and quit thinking you're not qualified to be where you are. Your thinking causes you worry, which is leading to your stress, which is what is causing your problem. So just relax and do your best. You are as intelligent as your peers and can handle it! As the Nike(?) commercial goes, "Just DO it!" Good luck to you!

Stress, lack of sleep, under active thyroid...it could be lots of things. You should see a doctor and impress upon him how you feel. Sometimes they just blow it off.
Perhaps you are suffering from depression. You might think about consulting a therapist. Good luck to you!
it is stress
you need to relax it will get better this is common

You have just entered into a new high stress situation

You will be fine just take a breathe and if you need to write things down you are haveing to remember you will get into a groove eventually

If this is a continued problem talk to a counselor they will have tips on how to deal with the symptoms you are going threw
