What causes a zombie like state in an person ?

My son goes into a zombie-like state frequently. He becomes unresponsive, stiff and he drools. What is it ? I know he smokes pot. He used to live with his mom but lives with me, his father now his erratic behaviour is hard to deal with. I don't beleive he is on other drugs. He is at home all the time and there are no signs of other drug use

The problem is that he needs some vitamins. He needs to get out of the house and be useful to himself and the world around him, get some sun and some fresh air and exercise. He most likely uses mind-altering drugs such as heroine or meth.

I would definitely check his arms for needle marks...

How old is he? He may have developed a mental disease, like schizophrenia... they go into a zombie state when hearing voices. Please get him evaluated.

I would take him to the doctor's soon. He could be dealing with a mental illness that he needs help with. Or it could be a strong drug that he's taking, it's hard to say. However, that's not normal and something is going on that need attention asap.
