I believe that our Creator has placed a divine purpose inside each and every person. .. Sounds like you may not be connecting to that Power Greater Than Yourself, this is common with people who suffer from depression and/or low self esteem.
I awake each morning to say "Thank You" to my creator and to be grateful for my life and family. This helps me to happy and "get Connected".Prayer and Meditation has really helped pull me from the doldrums of life.I love nature and simple pleasures..I know we can "get lost" sometimes. If you are religious, then you can become a monk. Then you will only have to worry about being spiritual instead of being wealthy. Otherwise, there does not seem to be much else for you which is socially acceptable.

I'd love to know a better answer to your question, because I ask it of myself all the time. To me life is waking up and asking myself what I'd like to do today. When I wake up and say I have to do a lot of awful tasks, I don't feel like I'm living. I feel like a controlled machine.
