Depression is not something you can just "snap out of." It's caused by an imbalance of brain chemicals, along with other factors. Like any serious medical condition, depression needs to be treated.
There are actually a lot of things you can do about depression. The most important thing is that you do something positive and constructive.
You might start by getting yourself some paper and a pen and make headings for all the factors previously described: Environmental, Interpersonal, Physical/Medical, etc.
Make a list of any problems, concerns, or negative feelings you have that relate to each of the areas. (It also helps to identify which of the areas are sources of strength, support, positive feelings.)
Depression can leave you feeling helpless and out of control of your life, your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You want to regain and experience more power and control; you want to get to the point where you feel like you can do something to improve your situation and life.
Go over each area and do your own self-assessment, then write down what you think it would take to help the situation. No two lists will be exactly alike, but several general strategies often are beneficial to people struggling with feelings of depression.
a professional can help you get the help you need,
whether that be counseling/psychotherapy or even possibly anti-depressant medications for a short period of time. See the next section for a description of the three types of psychotherapy and a discussion of when anti-depressant medications should be used.

Have you tried counseling. It could help with all this. Maybe the university has a mental health clinic and you could see someone there. It would be worth a shot.
Good Luck.
sounds like you are depressed about something & trying to find food to solve your unhappyness.
You should go to a Dr. & find out why you feel like this.
Your Dr. will be able to help you. My sister in law was
like this, she found out that she had a chemical imbalance
& the Dr. was able to help her via meds.
Best of luck & please see a Dr.
So many things you can do. A book, "The Power of Now" will relevant to you.
It's hard for a plant to flourish in the wrong soil. What works for your family may not work for you, but we have all that double-bind stuff of co-dependency. "I love you/I hate you" I"I want to stay/I want to go." "I don't need you/I can't cope without you."
But we need to make a path for ourselves if we are ever to feel on track, find our will, find a social life that feeds us, find time for ourselves, be in the world and enjoying that, finding pleasure in life again. There's nothing wrong with you and never has been. You need an environment around you in which you can grow. Look for it.
And look for you.
It's really hard to answer .. You have no motivation in life .
Why do you go to University?Because you have to or you WANT to ..?
You should feel happy that you study well.. And you should reward yourself - it's could be enough just to buy a flower - the feeling will change :)
I'm not a psychologist - but somtimes I feel as you do, and I usually try to make a change .. I'm not good at drawing, but I buy coloured pencils and try to sketch something simple, and feel better when I finish it..
You could get a pet .. It will reanimate you, believe me.You won't be able not to play with your dog when you look into it's sweet eyes ..If you don't like jogging alone - your dog will be the best friend possible.
Smile, and try to see the bright side..
You can buy 5-HTP at the store (CVS) and its an antidepressant for mood and it should help you stop eating.
