Do you consider yourself optimist or pessimist?

Question:
I consider myself extremely pessimistic, while still able to smile about things. I am also extremely cynical.

Are you (you) pessimist or optimist? are you cynical? WHY?

Answers:
Pessimist. and I'm pretty damn cynical, too. It's easier for me to deal with things being not as bad as I thought than it is for me to deal when things are worse than I expected. Kinda like a "start from the bottom and there's really nowhere else to go" thing.

Other Answers:
I optimistically think everything will go wrong.

I have had all kinds of nasty things happen to me, but people always think I'm funny. I keep going no matter what, my sense of humour is decidedly DARK, but I must be one hell of an optimist.its the only explanation as to why I'm Still Here. both

I am neither an optimist (assuming things will be fine) or a pessimist (thinking things will fail).

I'm a REALIST (wanting to see how things really are) and a CYNIC in the classical Greek sense of being unmaterialistic and patient.

Why am I like this? Because this way I'm grateful for actual things that are always fascinating and beautiful, like sunrises, sunsets, clever new melodies, trustworthy people, faithful dogs, and merry laughter. Can someone please fill up my glass??
Hmm, it seems a few of us here are similar. I also am cynical and pessimist. I read "Taming the Tiger" and am doing better. However, everyone who knows me knows that my sense of humor is also very dark. I am a real smart-a$$ and often people aren't sure if I'm being serious or not, which makes me more pist off. I have a Tshirt that I wear all the time (despite its stains and bleach marks) that says, "Let me drop everything and work on YOUR problem". I love wearing this to work; everyone just looks away b/c they know they are lazya$$es.
Ha!
Do you also feel like you are very intelligent and thus think too much and want to do and learn everything before you die? Do you also feel like by your mother giving birth to you, you were given a freakin sentence to live on this rapidly deteriorating planet until someone or something mercifully takes you out? Dammit!
