If you had a camel, what would you feed it?

Question:

Answers:
Is this a racing camel, a dairy camel or a camel for eating.
The dietary needs of each are going to differ quite significantly.
The basic feed would consist of whatever a roving camel finds (typically high roughage) plus a supplement of dates, figs, grains and sprouts.
Racing camels in order to run fast require less high roughage feed in their diet but will need nutricional supplement (for rumen B1 and other stuff) if this is cut down more than a moderate amount.
An eating camel is easy. Just letting your camel roam and pick out what he is to eat (typically a high roughage diet). You will not need to hand feed an eating camel. You could grain feed it to make it really bulk up, but most people who are into camel meat prefer it fatty unlike the typical grain fed steaks you find in Australia, America and Europe.
A dairy camel will probably have the strictest eating requirements as camels milk is normally drunk by nomadic people (like a few Kazakh and Morroccan tribes) who lack the nutrition of a variety of vegetables in their diet so the milk'll have to make up for this. Make sure your camel is well nourished else the milk will be lacking in the minerals and vitamins that the camel naturally produces.
