Wellbutrin (XL vs SR, starting dosage, opinions in general)?

Question:
I was perscribed Wellbutrin SR 100mg pills to take once daily (morning), but with the SR, the usual dosage is taking two of these spaced throughout the day. My doctor told me to take 1 a day for a month, but I took it for the first time today and didn't feel a thing--not even any side effects. I know it takes a while for meds to kick in, but I'm wondering if this dosage is too low for the SR.

Also, I wanted to know about Wellbutrin XL v.s SR. I've heard that some people have switched over to one or the other, and claim one works better (& diff side effects), despite the fact that these drugs are suppose to be the same. I know with XL you only have to take once a day in the morning (which I would very much prefer if my dosage for SR gets bumped up--I have a hard enough time remembering to take one pill).
Have any of you found XL or SR better than the other? Also, I tend to eat a lot when I'm depressed, and heard this med can help with these kind of cravings/compulsive behavior?

Answers:
Wellbutrin worsened my mania. I thought I was taking 450mg a day, but I was probably taking 900mg.

I'm not a Wellbutrin fan, but take with caution.
