How do you know that you are anorexic?

Question:
Sorry if this is a stupid question- but I know there are a set 'list' of symptoms that people can fall under, but what if someone feels that they do not meet this criteria, how do you know that you have this illness for sure?

Answers:
If you are anorexic, you are mentally ill, and will be displaying other symptoms, such as self-harm, obsessive behaviours (manic diary writing, calorie charts, food logs etc. are common). You will hide your body rather than display it. You will be convinced that life will be perfect if you reach your target weight, but will change the target when you reach it. Your periods will stop, and you will start to get a lot of downy hair on your body. That's just a few of the tell tale signs, but each case is different.

Other Answers:
there is no such thing as anorexia when you look like you..you are a fat pig DIET!!

if you have to ask, you have a problem. See a doctor soon. Anorexia nervosa is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes an eating disorder characterized by low body weight and body image distortion. Individuals with anorexia often control body weight by voluntary starvation, purging, vomiting, excessive exercise, or other weight control measures, such as diet pills or diuretic drugs. It primarily affects young adolescent girls in the Western world and has one of the highest mortality rates of any psychiatric condition, with approximately 10% of people diagnosed with the condition eventually dying due to related factors. Anorexia nervosa is thought to be a complex condition, involving psychological, neurobiological, physiological and sociological components.

is a skeleton your twin exactly then yes

usually its when you refuse to eat to the point your stomach shrinks and you cant eat. if this does not help then ask your doctor or research it. Easy way is to simply ask your doctor.

They have a chart showing where your weight should be around given a certain height and age, in order to be considered healthy.

As with most mental illnesses you can't diagnose yourself! If I could I'd have a permanent supply of narcotics! The patient is the wrong one to ask if they have it of course they'll say, "NO!"

go see a doctor

No, it's not a stupid question. Well, when you just don't want to eat or when you try it comes back all at once then you're anorexic. But for sure get an appointment at your doctor's.

You will know 100% if you have anorexia when you are skinnier then you've ever been before BUT you are still telling yourself that if you eat something you will get fat.
Also, if you think that eating makes you a weak minded person then you have a problem.

When food itself interfere's with your life, and changes the way you would percieve certain situations. You probaly already no, you just gota admit it to yourself u keep falling down drains when u go to the shops

if you are afraid to gain weight constantly thinking about food repulse at the thought of eating etc thats how you no really

You could be ed-nos technically. The "label" doesn't matter. If you have an eating disorder, you know it.

So the question is, what are you going to do about it?
