Is Zoloft good for people with Social Phobia? What dosage is recommended for best results?
Question:

I personally didn't have much luck with Zoloft. (I was on 200mg before the doc changed my meds again) But, it's difficult to answer these types of questions because so much depends on your unique body chemistry. I have horrible social phobia.I am a basket case in front of lot of people.but I found the ONLY thing to help with that to be Paxil. Paxil worked wonders for me.
If the zoloft works for you, I'd say stick with it. It has less side effects than others. Paxil, although a HUGE blessing to me, does have more side effects (weight gain and sexual side effects being the worst 2)
Good luck!

What is good for social phobia is NOT another drug but practicing social skills by interacting with people you see as your equal!
I was on Zoloft during my last year of high school. It helped me break out of my shell.or maybe it was in my mind. Anyways, I was taking one daily but once I decided to get of Zoloft after about a year I had bad withdrawls. I would get dizzy and my hair started falling out more than normal. It took me two years for my hair to regain it's thickness. I would not recommend this drug to anyone because it's hard to get off of it. Carmen B said it all. I too took Zoloft for years and it didn't work for me..I also took Wellbutrin and other meds. My doctors keep switching my medications. They are all very expensive so now I have to take what my insurance will cover.. Effexor was the only medication that was helping, but I can't take it because I can't afford it. Right now I am on Prozac because my insurance will cover it. I still feel sad and depressed most of the time..It's a shame we can't get what we really need. Thanks for letting me vent..Good Luck to you!
