Let's say you fail a big test. If you don't perk up in a day or two, something may be wrong. Or, if you feel down for let's say a week or two for no reason something may be wrong...in my opinion.
It varies from person to person, has a lot to do with what is going on in your personal life also. There is no shame in seeking help if you think you might be depressed, beleive me I have been there
ok mostly depression is being worried thats how it starts by worring about what ppl think of you when you dont hear what you want you feel down the best way to over come is to ignore ppl and their stupid comments and go out have fun with friends experince new things get your mind off things and how long it takes for depression with the same hour you are down deprssion can kick in
nobody really cares to hear it
I guess when it starts having an effect on you everyday life. If you're having trouble getting out of bed or out of the house. Also if you are having thoughts of self-harm. Even if you aren't depressed, its best to talk to someone about it. Your Doc can help find a counsellor.
i think you just need to think positive
that may be difficult due to the possibly low serotonin content in your brain
but as long as you tell yourself you're ok
and talk about your problems to a support group
then you should be mildly fine
and the depression should either stay mild and/or brief or desist
I work for a psychiatrist & am currently studying to be one. Depression isn't only about feeling down. It has to do with other things such as phsyical & emotional fatigue, loss of appetite, loss of interest in social activies & hobbies. Use a search engine & search for symptoms of depression. If you think you may have it, seek medical help through your doctor or a pyschiatrist/sychologist. It is treatable.
I think I realized that I was depressed when I just couldn't be happy anymore and nothing really mad me happy. I would try to think about things that would make me happy and I couldn't even think about anything. None of the things that used to make me happy made me happy anymore. I have just started taking Zoloft now, so hopefully I will feel better soon. You should see you Doctor and tell him/her how you are feeling, they will give you something to help you. Good Luck and God Bless!
If you are feeling down for two weeks or more, it is considered depression of some sort. Also, if you notice you are closing yourself off from friends and family and don't find interest in the things you used to, it is a concern.
There are many things so that's why we got depressed .
True depression--mental illness--is not just the blues or a bad day. It is a chemical illness that can have tragic results. Some forms of depression can affect the body before the person "feels depressed". For example, depression can start with sleep disturbances.
