My best guess is that it is a practical, tangible form of pain that is easier to deal with and easier to fix. It's also an easy way for other people to see and understand how much you're hurting when they don't understand or don't notice emotional pain. If you are hurting yourself, you should see a therapist to try and help you understand the emotional pain so you can deal with that, without endangering yourself further.
ok first of all physical pain gets you no where yes it may make you forget about emotional pain but its only temporaily so to get rid of the emotional u have to get out more have better experiences
Physical pain has an emotional component. When you feel physical pain, you also feel emotional pain with the same injury. This covers the previous emotional pain to a degree.
Also, you can SEE a physical injury and control it, if you're the one inflicting it.
As someone who used to do this, I always described it like drowning. When you're in emotional pain, you just sink deeper and deeper into despair. When you feel physical pain it brings you back to reality (to the surface). It distracts you from your emotional problems and you feel alive. It's a relief to feel anything other than the sadness or anger etc. I don't recommend anyone doing this however!! I never did anything serious that would leave scars, but all the same I should've gotten some help at the time.
it doesnt make the emotional pain away...its just covered by the physical pain you feel...but its still there...somehow its relieved maybe because you let your emotions out through the physical pain you feel...
The best kind of physical pain to put yourself through is hard physical excercise. It will release endorphins and make you happy, make you look good and will help to take the emotional pain away.
You can also endure a lot of physical pain through thoroughly cleaning your house. That in turn too will make you feel better, re-arranging furniture so that you can erase unwanted memories, have a new setting to surround you.
Physically hurting yourself by drawing blood is quick, but long term it's not going to be benefitial. You will remember the hard times you had when you see your scars later in life.
Make your life better by being more healthy, and surrounding yourself with beautiful things, torture your brain by learning a new language or learning a musical instrument... things that you can carry with you with pride for your whole life.
that is an emotional disorder. If you know someone that does this you need to talk them into getting help. It can turn into a cutting disorder.
I don't know. But I went thru a 2 hr tattooing experience to ease some serious emotional pain, and I felt so much better afterward.
Because the pain of a psysical pain is way more intence. But I found a better way of making emotional pain go away. It ain't no pills or anything like that. But it works! It's odd but it works! E-mail me and I will tell you about it. Not a joke it dose work for me!!
It doesn't, it just distracts you from it for a period of time. Once the physical pain is gone, the emotional pain comes back.
