Cymbalta Withdrawal--diz. else?

Question:
My husband has been on Cymbalta for nerve pain for about 1 year. He is trying to quit them cold turkey. He is having dizziness/feels drunk /head swimming feelings. Web sites are unhelpful. Anyone else with similar symptoms and what did you do take care of it?

Answers:
Do not quit cold turkey! Contact the MD and have him/her prescribe the best way to slowly taper down. Suddenly stopping this type of drug is not a good idea. Other possible side effects besides dizziness include sleepiness, insomnia, agitation, depression, auditory hallucinations, nightmares, night terrors, mood swings, "electricity" or shock feelings. This drug alters brain chemistry and your husband's brain is reliant on that mechanism. Slowly tapering the dose down will allow your brain some time to adjust. Why is he stopping the drug? The biggest problem with this type of drug is that when they work, people start thinking that they don't need it anymore. They stop the med and then they suddenly go back to being depressed or anxious only in spades.
