Is anyone on both anxiety meds and AD/HD meds? What is your experience?

Question:
I am on anxiety meds for panic disorder and social anxiety, but really would like to be tested for AD/HD. It is in my family, and I have a lot of trouble with focus, concentration, and forgetfulness.
I am an adult, by the way. Anyway, I don't know if it is worth being checked because I don't know if you can mix anxiety meds and AD/HD meds.
Help! Also, if you know any helpful books I can look at.

Answers:
HAVE YOUR PSYCHIATRIST TEST YOU FOR ADD/ADHD. IF YOU TEST POSITIVE ASK HIM ABOUT NON-STIMULATE DRUG FOR ADULTS WITH THIS DISORDER CALLED STRATTERA. I HAVE GOTTEN VERY GOOD RESULTS WITH ONLY A FEW SHORT LASTING SIDE-EFFECTS IE DRY MOUTH, A LITTLE APPETITE LOSS, AND SOME NUMBING OF MY TOP FRONT TEETH. I ALSO TAKE AN ANTI-DEPRESSANT ALONG WITH ANXIETY AND A SLEEPING MED.I HAVE BEEN STABLE FROM MY DEPRESSION SINCE 1997. BUT SINCE I ADDED THE STRATTERA 4 YEARS AGO I HAVE NEVER FELT BETTER. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL YOUR MEDICATIONS FROM THE SAME DOCTOR AND PHARMACY,SO THEY CHECK FOR POSSIBLE DRUG INTERACTIONS. GOOD LUCK TO YOU. I HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL.

DODA.

I'm sorry you have those diagnoses since they are the most overused/abused diagnoses I have ever seen as a mental health practitioner, now retired, with 20+ years experience. I do hope you have only one M.D. prescribing all the meds so one doctor knows all of what you're taking. Be advised that oftentimes the medicine becomes the problem, and the diagnosticians are sometimes "predisposed" to certain diagnoses, so ask them about how sure they are about their diagnoses. God Bless you.
