What can I expect from taking Cymbalta?

Question:
I began taking Cymbalta (30 mg dose) today. I've read up a little on the side effects, but what emotional / physical effects can I expect, in the early stages of treatment, and then after my body becomes accustomed to it. Past and present Cymbalta users PLEASE RESPOND! Thanks!

Answers:
It may cause you to get sleepy, or get diarrhea. I had a decrease in my sex drive, but thats not common (but a possibility). I lost weight with this medicine, not a drastic amount, but a few pounds, which made me feel a little better about myself. Theres so much information on the web about it.its a good idea to do a search on it and read up on it. the pamphlet they give you when you start it gives you the basics, but I prefer to have as much info as possible. If you start having thoughts of suicide or an irregular heartbeat, or feel really dizzy or lightheaded, you need to call your doctor ASAP! These aren't normal side effects. It means that either the drug isn't right for you or your dose needs adjusted. If you get an infection and have to go on antibiotics, you should talk to your doctor and let him/her know that you're taking this medicine, since your dose may need to be readjusted for a short time (antibiotics alter the way this drug works). I started really noticing a difference in my mood after about 3-4 weeks..and I feel better yet now. Hang in there, and do your homework--do a search and see what else you can find.

Check out this page it has all the info about this drug and it has people sharing their experience with it. good luck to you http://www.health-care-information.org/drugs/Cymbalta.htm

I have been taking it for 6 or 7 months. But I take the 60 mg twice a day. When I first started taking it, I would sleep almost all day. But after a week or so, that stopped. Believe me, the good outweighs the bad anyday! I have been taking it for about six months, although I have been on anti-depressants for four years. I experienced increased sweating while on it. Even though I'm not hot I still sweat. It's kind of embarrassing but I have severe OCD and not taking it is not an option
