Hypochondria?

Question:
I have hypochondria and I also believe that I have very mild OCD, because it's only with certain things but it will REALLY bother me unless it's fixed (also some people in my family have OCD). Is there anything that can actually cause things like Hypochondria and OCD? Because I know a lot of people aren't just born with stuff like this. So why do they end up "getting" it?

Answers:
I believe you can develop some of the OCD symptoms by being around people with OCD. If your family has that, then you could have picked up certain things from them. A good place to look is on webmd, just look up OCD

Both OCD and hypochondria are caused by a combination of factors, some genetic and some environmental. If you've got the genes and you never run into the environmental factors, you never get the disease. If you don't have the genes and you run into the environmental factors, you don't get the disease. If you have both, you get it. That's the current theory anyway. Now, what are those factors and what are the genes? Nobody knows. Since you have hypochondria, your belief that you have OCD may be incorrect. Please see a doctor.
i think that some mental disorders happen at key points in your childhood. maybe you had to go to the doctor a lot as a child, so you have a fear that anything little that's wrong with you might be something big. maybe your parents were too controlling, so you feel like you can't control things in your life like your health, so you constantly have to have your health checked.

just some ideas :)
