hair pulling?
Question:
Answers:
it is a form of Obsessive compulsive disorder, i too pull my hair and it relaxes me or helps me think. it dosn't cause me any problems, except when my mom died and it got so i was pulling it out.
Other Answers:
Actually my friend had that, she kept plucking her eyelashies, and I had a small case of it, but I controlled myself. She however could not, and her mom took her to a physcologist or something, and she diagnosed her,and gave her some stuff, and I think she had to write in a journal or something. hair pulling makes you feel better in the short term (or at least it used to), your unconscious mind repeats the behavior in an effort to make you feel good.
It is called trichotillomania, I think?
As Jessica M said, it is indeed called trichotillomania. It is an impulse-control disorder.
You should seek psychiatric help.
I used to do that. Pulled out all my eyelashes in high school. My mom read some stuff and put me on a vitamin (sorry, can't remember which one). Do some research on the internet!
What you have is called trichotillomania. Right now it is thought to be related to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), but not officially OCD. I have had it since i was 3 years old. A friend of mine whom I met through the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC) says, "Stress doesn't cause trich, but it sure keeps me from fighting it!" You are not alone! Go to www.trich.org. They are GREAT people and have a ton of resources. When you start reading stuff on the website, you will be blown away by how much it describes you! Good luck!
