A fly came by and scared the living daylights out of me.

When you encounter a fly in an odd mannor, there is a change in your life you need to take one long, hard look at.
You are scared of a transition you are about to go through (aware or not)
Don't be afraid, be aware.
You just got your adrenalin going when you got scared. As soon as the adrenalin wears off, you should settle down. Try reading or listening to music.

your thoughts have been racing ever since --- you're thinking
Okay : The Living Dead.
The fly triggered fight or flight response. A fly doesn't make enough of an opponent for killing it to release the stress it caused so you're kinda stuck until you do something or wait until the chemicals in your brain and body adjust back.
