has anyone else weaned themselves off effexor xr?

Question:
i'm a few weeks out of just stopping 225mg per day after 6 months being on it and I feel SO much better. i still keep having visual/audial disturbances though. anyone else have similar side effects?

Answers:
Yes.and know of others who did as well.the stuff is handed out like candy, we all want a quick fix, or to believe we are messed up and need help. but really, we need our loving friends and family, physical activity, creative outlets (journalling, art, ) and maybe sharing with others in a supportive setting. You are not alone here! I never went higher than the 34.5 starter dose, experienced panic attacks, more anxiety and irrational thinking than ever.I just realized I needed to accept whatever apin I was going through, grieve, weep, heal and move on. I tossed the stuff and went to a homeopath instead.and keep active! Natural endorphins will get you through in the end.best wishes.

My husband had an easy time getting off of it. Made him sick as hel!, and also caused auditory and visual side effects, like constantly seeing stuff out the corner of your eye, enough to make you check over your back. And it made "other things" not work right.mostly not at all. He stopped taking it after a week when it had done nothing to improve his depression, but only added psychotic symptoms. That drug should be ripped from the market, it's only good for people who enjoy a 'trip' like acid.

i am on effexer XL and i had a panick attack last night, i have never had one before. if i forget to take my tablet for two day i start to get pulptations. do you get the same thing. ive been on them for four years. I tried it( the drug) gave me messed up dreams then flushed it. Don't reccomend doing that but live life just great without it!

sometimes I have heard of people feeling like they are in a dream like state like vibrations.

I am on effexor xr. Have been over a year. I seem to talk more, sleep alot longer in the mornings etc. I have noticed my vision as well isn't as good. I am still on it.

No, it just made me sick at my stomach. I stopped taking it cold turkey and had extreme visual problems accompanied by being paranoid. I found when it was bad I would take one in the morning and if the feeling came back in a few days then I would take another one. After a couple of weeks I didn't need to take any. Later in the future I was put back on them again for other reasons(i was being abused and was convinced it was my fault). After finally deciding to leave the relationship went off them again and had no ill effects other than suffered extreme panic attacks. It has been 7 months now and have had only 1 attack in 2 months Be good to your body.Remember when you got them you were told the doc would wean you off gradually so you need to do the same for yourself. It is extremely harmful to just stop taking meds like that. You can cause such things as heart attacks. Just SLOWLY stop taking them. Start by taking just one and see how you feel the next day. If you feel not bad then wait a day etc.
