Is there a way to prevent mental illness?

Question:
is there anything someone can do to reduce the chances of "going crazy?"

Answers:
Its not something tha can be prevented really, more like treated and then once it retreats back into the mind and gives you a more full life back you can do things to prevent it;
remove stress from your life
meditate
life life more fully
try to avoid drink and drugs
Alot of these things can be found in Psychotherapy books, perhaps a friend of yours can give you an introduction book on something like this. Maybe post it to you or something.

Other Answers:
Prevent...no. Treat...yes.
If there is only a Dr. could answer it.
If you calm yourself and aren't paranoid and convinced that you are 'going crazy' then most likely, you won't. But if it unavoidable, than just treat it, that is possible.
going by all your other questions you sound really scared dont worry tho it might never happen. you cant prevent a mental illness only treat it when it appears. most mental illnesses appear at around late teens most but not all.
I beleave that mental illness runs in families through genetics, but I also beleave that it is preventable starting at a young age. My guess is the way to prevent further problems with a very young child is teach very good coping skills, praise, and daily affermations.
My theripist says that a person can cause mental illness by allowing yourself to think negitive things about yourself and others.
The answer also lies withing the bible. Treat people the way Jesus would and no harm should come to you
no - depression is next to impossible to treat also. Beleive me I have tried.
The best way is to live a stable life, set realistic goals, and plan for the future. Don't gamble your future security for the desires of the moment. Oftentimes people go crazy when the pressures of life catch up to them. They've been moving in the wrong direction for a long time, and they realize they can't find their way back. So don't start moving in the wrong direction. Don't keep yourself awake with caffeine. Don't numb yourself to pain with alcohol. Don't keep your body moving with sugar and garbage food. Don't remain in relationships and situations that make you miserable because it's easier than getting out. Don't push your body and your mind beyond their limits. When you hear a voice in your head saying, "I know what I'm doing is not healthy, but it's only temporary," stop what you're doing and get back on the right path now, before it's too late.
