Do I have Asperger's Syndrome?

Question:
I do not interact very well in social situations, but am not all that sensitive to the senses. I become nervous when I speak in front of people and talk with a stutter.

Answers:
I used to think I had Asperger's too. The fact that you know the name of the syndrome means you have probably been researching this and are interested in helping yourself find an answer. This is not necessarily contrary to the symptoms, but it is a step in the right direction.

Asperger's is part of the autism spectrum, as you may have already read. If you are concerned that you may have more than social anxiety, or perhaps you are like me and too jaded to care too much about the generic drama that seems to permeate the masses, LOL, then research local doctors and *teachers* who deal with autistic and asperger children. Teachers see the kids every day, doctors not as often. I don't know your age, but the information is out there for parents of children with this, and there is help for all ages.

Btw, do you have a job? I noticed a HUGE turnaround in my "symptoms" once I was out of high school and had a real job. I literally forced myself to talk to people, being in a customer service position. I taught myself to assess the needs of my customers. If you are not inclined to associate with the public, try it out in small doses and really monitor your progress. You may find you just don't have any practice with it. Good luck and good health!

Other Answers:
no man i'm the same way. i hate public in general.
Sound like you are just shy or have social anxiety.
no you just lack confidence. Be strong don't be afraind. Learn to play the game of LIFE!
I was diagnoised with aspergers syndrome a few years ago
Theres a lot of other symptons for it, such as unsual obsessions, rigid routine, lack of eye contact, inabiltity to properly understand or pick up on other peoples feelings, slow speech development etc.
Do you experience anything other than anxiety and stuttering? it could be an anxiety or panic disorder. Also do these symptons go right back to your childhood or has this developed recently?
I'd reccommend you have a chat with your doctor or parents if you feel able to. I find it quite hard to openly talk about my feelings, but if your concerned i'd give it a try
good luck, and if you have any more quesions you can email me..i'm happy to help =)
