Because its just a childish thing kids do, it makes them comfortable someone that is there with them.
lonliness and nobody who understands
i still chat to mine every now and then
When they don't find the friends they need they create an imaginary friend that is perfect for them in every way.
It helps to develop social skills.
because they dont have any real friends
some of them might have not been imaginary - just not visible for grown ups..
because they are stupid
Because their real friends are creeps or possibly because they are lonely and need someone to talk to!
they need someone to be around-
the fact of the matter is usually when a kid is shy he/she invents an imaginary friend. an imaginary friend is who you want him/her to be. it's easier to make friends with than an actual person. the imaginary friend can be anything or anyone at anytime.
Usually this is developed because unfortunatly their parents teach them about religion which is also imaginary. So, therefore they create other imaginary friends or people as their parents teach them it is OK to believe in imaginary objects or ideas.
It was a way for me to express myself without any repercussions from my parents who never took me serious.
because they ether don't have friends or it's hard for them to make friends
I think that young children invent imaginary friends because their reality is adults always telling them what to do. An imaginary friend will do whatever it is the child wants it to do!
Because they're neglected. Where are your kids right now, by the way?
The part of their psyche called the ID needs the friendship for emotional gratification. So, something is absent in the 'real' world for the child. A need is not being met. That was my reason when i was little. I am not an expert, but i am here for you.
cuz their parents are bad friends
also children havent been corruptd to leav their
imagination behind and only chase after the mighty dollar
because they get lonely or they want someone to tell all their secrets to; thinking that they can't trust their real friends.
"Emotions" Every child is very emotional AND there is no Particular activity for their brain to think about. For example, Try to pass a week in ur home doing nothing what will be ur thinking whole day ?? Just here and there .. Brain is a very powerfull processor it will not stop processing ideas and if it is in a growing stage . Cure?? try to make them think on some "REAL" objects (Not Cartoons and games all the time :) ).
And also try to care for their emotions and why not try to have some qualities like their imaginary friend and changing it to reality..
were bored!
"The development of imaginary friends by a person does not signify a problem or disorder. However, it can occasionally become problematic if it begins to interfere with everyday social interactions. For parents, an understanding of a child's conversations with their imaginary friends can reveal a lot about the anxieties and fears of that child. It can also give an insight into the child's aspirations and perception of the world. Some children report that their "imaginary friends" manifest themselves physically, and are indistinguishable from "real" people, however it is unknown whether these cases correspond specifically to any pathological condition."

Not all "imaginary friends" are imaginary. don't know if u believe in spirits but. Most children. infants also see "spirits" or "ghosts" ever watch Montel Williams Show on Wednesdays with Sylvia Browne. its pretty interesting. apparently relatives visit from beyond and sometimes when we are not "open" we cant see. My daughter 12 months looks up and puts her arms up as to be picked up when there is no one near her. she moves her head like she is watching something move even though i see nothing. so Imaginary is all relative.
They aren't imginary, dear. They are their spririt guides.
