Does anyone else go to A. A meetings ?

have you found it useful or aload of trash??

Answers:
I went to NA for a short time after I quit taking drugs. I quit on my own but I was forced to go to rehab where we were continually made to go to meetings. I found it useless. All that is talked about is taking drugs, kind of wallowing in your misery to my way of thinking. I wanted to leave drug taking and all discussions of it behind and build a new life. That is what I have done after I stopped going to meetings. Drugs are not on my mind these days and if I had to go to an NA meeting and listen to all the self pity and drug talk, I'd pull my hair out!

Also, an attitude at the meetings that was counter-productive to any recovery was that the individual cannot beat drugs on their own, they must have the group. Isn't that substituting the group as the new addiction rather than the drugs? I thought so. I got on drugs on my own and I got off the drugs the same way.

I have found it useful to go to AA meetings....it keeps me from ever becomming an alcoholic...those stories are sad....

my sister used to go. I came with her once and it was very enlightening even if i'm not an alcoholic.

I think there is a lot of unexpected wisdom in those rooms.

They are quite useful, you need to find the right one and participate.

Sitting in a corner and looking for differences is just a waste of a good Friday night.

If you are an Alcoholic and want help they are the best.
If you don't believe that you are an Alcoholic and have the attitude that they are a load of trash, you will be wasting everyone's time.
