For those of you that believe there is no such thing as ADHD.....?
Question:
Answers:
I don't believe that there is "no such thing" as ADHD, but I believe it is STRONGLY over-diagnosed without making lifestyle changes FIRST that are KNOWN factors causing attention problems in children and adults.
Medicating people shouldn't be the first answer.

I believe in it. I worked in mental health and have seen it. I dont think it can be cured.
I do be leave that there is AD/HD, but I do not be leave in the labeling of it. My thought of it is..................
We come from ancestors of hunters, and doing everything by ourselves. Our ancestors of course pass genes to us. Through the many years life and society has made it easy for us and there has to be left over "gene energy" if you will, with nothing to do with it.
I hope this makes since, Its hard for me to explain my point into words.
I agree that ADHD is overdiagnosed. There are people out there with a chemical imbalance that leads to ADHD. However I think the majority of cases are a result of nurtre, not nature. We have created an ADHD world. portable video games, in car DVD players, cell phones, the internet, everything about our society is becoming faster paced with tons of information being thrown at you at once.
It then stands to reason that children may have problems going into a quiet environment with minimal stumili and remaining on task (school setting anyone?). Medication is not a solution, it is a way to help make the solution more plausible. The solution is to train the proper behaviors with consistent consequences (both "good" and "bad").
