is talking in your sleep normal?

Question:
my little brother sits up from his bed and talks while he is sleeping, he has been doing this since he was a baby, the latest thing he said was "Quick change the channel!" then he layed back down, is this normal because this is starting to freak me out?
only serious answers please.

Answers:
No its not normal, but its not an uncommon problem, especially in children, either. Is it anything to be freaked out about? No. As long as it does not affect the waking hours during the day. My daughter talks in her sleep. She was demanding a cookie one day so I told my husband to pretend to give her one. He held out his hand and said here is a cookie. She actually put it to her mouth, chewed and started snoring again.

Other Answers:
it is normal
My sister used to do this all the time also. It is normal.
don't know how normal it is - but lots of people do it. One of my sisters even sleepwalks
Yes it very normal.
Alot of people do it. My children dont but my hubby does.
If he wants something really bad or has had something on his mind he will talk about it in his sleep.
I don't know if it's normal but I do the same thing. I've been doing it since I was little per what my sister's say. We are just deep dreamers.
I talk in my sleep but people sleeping in the other hardly understand what I am talking about my brother does what your brother does and you think he is awake because he might call out your name he also walk and talks in his sleep and one night he came to my room and told it was time to go in the middle of the night. I asked him go where and he did not know where we had to go and repeated that it was time to go
completly normal, though it is often in phases, or they grow out of it. one of my friends sisters is fun and completly normal juring the day, but at night she sleep walkes into peoples rooms and starts screaming at them! she ones threatened me with a coat hangar like it was a knife. we just have to try to calm her down, or if we have to then wake her up. as soon as shes back in bed then she stops screaming and continues to sleep. in the morn she doesnt remember a thing about it. dont worry, but if u still do then see a doctor.
I talk in my sleep and my husband does too . I hope it's normal if not then we are weird. I also sleep walk as well. I just walk into walls.
its normal. its probably a result from dreaming. when i go to sleep overs with my friends, they always tell me that i talk in my sleep. One time I sat up and screamed "NO! Don't!" Yea, I freak them out, but it's perfectly normal.
