Could you help me with my research?

Question:
Do you think that mental instability/illness could prove to be an advantage for a painter. If so could you give me a few reasons why, or, examples of painters who's work show definate signs of being influenced by their mental health problems. Thankyou in advance.

Answers:
I don't think anyone suffering from mental illness would say there is anything advantageous about it. It seems as though many creative geniuses suffer from some form of mental illness, but I doubt they would consider instability beneficial.

Since I have A.D.D. but am not mentally ill, I am gonna guess. They do not give a rat's rear what other people think. And I believe that releases their inhibitions to do as they like. I love to draw, but am sometimes concerned that I see it different than other people do, and am inhibited by that. What was the question?
many painters are considered insane while
they're actually seeing a reality not accepted by the mainstream.
of course many times their life is truly tragic
but its more a result of them being rejected and certainly
financially rejected. but the measure of success
in this life is fortunately not dictated by the mainstream
