My sons teacher susspects my son may have?

Question:
a form of epilepsy called 'childhood absence epilepsy" has any one else know anyone whose child has the same thing? my son is 9. what was the treatment and does it go away with time?

Answers:
Some teachers think they know everything. Look it up on the internet, but I'd really just call my physician. After 3 kids and the public school system, not all teachers are equal and when they start doctoring, it's time to think again.

Other Answers:
Seek the doctor opinion.
Your asking the wrong people.
Unless your sons teacher is also an MD I wouldn't immediately assume that what he says is accurate. If you suspect that your son has something wrong with him, take him to a doctor.
ask a consultant to consult him,
"dude" is right - you're asking te wrong people. you might get some anecdotal answers here, but every case is different and you should see a doctor, especially if you're worried
Possible, have him properly tested, not by the school. The teacher is not qualified to make this kind of analyses. If she is boring him he might just be day dreaming and totaly zoning out. Something that is actually quite normal.
Do not take what your son's teacher said to heart. Unless they're an expert in this medical field, they don't necessarily know what they're talking about. Contact your family doctor to discuss what his teacher suggested. If your doctor feels there's any validity to the suggestion he might have childhood absence epilepsy, he'll advise you where to get him tested and those experts will direct you where to get further help if warranted. Don't panic...just have it checked out.
