Constant pounding headache, what is it a general symptom of? (besides migraines)?

Question:
I'm really scared of going to the doctor, and I'm trying to get rid of that fear and I'm going to schedule an appointment tomorrow for Saturday. I have a constant pounding headache, especially in my temples, and I'm interested in what I could possibly be diagnosed with besides a migraine. (I believe I'll need a brain scan, that's why)

Answers:
Many doctors will not tell you that the cause of more then 50% of all headaches is anger which goes with or includes frustration.
This 'anger' headache is caused by something in your life is unbearable and creating tension so severe that it manifests itself as horrific headache.. A person has to really sort themselves out to determine what the cause (s) may be..
The other headaches, migraines as you mentioned, include those caused by severely infected sinus, food that is far too salty, pre menstrual hormone changes, some eye conditions,TMJ or temporo mandibular joint dysfunction (in muscles /joints of jaw). In many cases TMJ is also caused by deep seated anger, tension or frustration.
Allergies can cause bad headaches.
Only a very small percentage of headaches are caused by brain tumours. Headaches caused by a blow to the head (concussion)are not that common.
So try to relax, you will most likely not have to have a brain scan.
Worrying about this may cause the headaches to feel worse. So try not to worry and good luck at the doctors.
It may just be a pinched nerve in your neck, shoulders, or back thats causing this. Its best to not worry as this is stress and can cause more headaches. Just go and get checked out, it may be something even smaller and more easily fixed.
