Do you have any experience getting off of Effexor XR?

Question:
I have tried on a couple of occasions, but the withdrawal effects make me so miserable I wind up taking it again.

Answers:
I was on Effexor for about 3 years! I went off of it about 4 months ago and I went though some major withdrawal! You have to wean yourself off of it slowly! Whatever mg you're on cut the dose by 37.5 mg each week until you're off it! I went on Cymbalta afterward and it's worked really well for me! Best of luck!

Other Answers:
you have to slowly wean off of it. If you just stop cold turkey, the effects are bad, you may even get pain and headaches along with nausea. ask your doctor for an alternative

You really should enlist your doctor's aid in this. You cannot stop taking it all at once on your own. Talk to your Dr. you have to slowly come off of it by reducing the dosage.

You shouldn't do it cold turkey. That could be the reason why you're feeling miserable. When you come off Effexor XR, it has to be done by decreasing the dosage, similar to the way you were put on it.
But if you feel better while you're taking it, why would you want to stop taking it?
