You work in groups where you learn skills. Self soothing is one of them, how to handle strong feelings. After a time you also learn a lot about communication. About mindfulness. You learn basic skills needed for a good life!
You also have therapy sessions alone with your own therapist. There are a very strict structure there. Goal one is to be stable. That means stop self harming, eat what you need, get out of harming relationships to name some.
You also get help Whit this in the group. That are what some of the basic skills are for. When you are stable, the therapist will help you with what you need. Many needs help to cope with post traumatic stress. It could be other things.
The idea is that they follow you up to. Thar they check up on how you are when your life is on track. And that you can come back if you need.
Wish you the best of luck. Ask more if you want, this was the short version. Take care!
