Has anybody heard cases about small boys being given the drug Phenobarbitol in Ireland a few years ago?

Question: I have been asked by a friend to look up any side effects of the drug Phenobarbitol.A brother of one of her close friend was given Phenobarbitol 60mg when he was 8years old. She mentioned that it was given involuntary and in similar situations to that of the Magdelane laundries.He is now an adult and does not take the medication, but she wondered if there could be any long term damage.Oh, and he was not diagnosed as being epileptic
