Does anyone take effexor?

Question:
I have been taking effexor for about a year now. It helped me a lot and I started loving my life again, but now my depression and anxiety have been coming back. It gets worse every day. I can't up my dosage cause I'm on the highest recomended dosage right now. Did anyone have this happen to them? How come the effexor is not working for me any more? I want to do somthing about it before my depression and anxiety get worse.

Answers:

Other Answers:
Effexor only gave me a headache but Lexapro works well, and I still swear by prozac.

same thing happened to me with effexor and paxil i know its hard but just try and let your doc try to find a new med that will work for u I'm on effexor xr and have been for about 3 months and it's working great..but I think I am on a low dose.I think maybe you should discuss this with your doctor.I'm certain they have things that can help..don't ever change your dosage by yourself..this can be a dangerous drug to try to change doses alone..get a doctors help

OH, man. Yes, I took effexor, but I hated it. I'm not on anything now. From what I understand, sometimes you need to try a few different drugs to see which one works best for you. Definitely tell your doctor! Also. I strongly believe talk therapy helps.

Call your doctor. Only he/she can help you decide what has happened and what will work now. If your doctor won't help, get another doctor!

Almost all meds will stop working after some amount of time. Your body gets used to it and so you need to try something else.
I used Effexor for almost 3 years and just recently switched to Cymbalta-- which is working really well for me.
Talk to your doc about it and ask about switching to another med.

one of the major side effects of effexor is recurring depression (go figure) and suicidal ideations. so you could just be having one of the side effects. you may want to try either switching from effexor to an SSRI (antidepressant) such as prozac or zoloft or lexapro, or try just taking your effexor in combination with an SSRI. oftentimes, we see alot of patients on effexor and celexa (SSRI). it works pretty good for keeping the edge off. you may want to talk to your doctor about these feelings and see what is best for you.

i took it for about 2 yrs..dr kept raising dose on me to where i was addicted on 300mg a day.im off it and on welbutrin now for engery, and lexapro for panic attacks.u should message me

Please call your doctor tomorrow. Effexor was one of the six drugs I took until the doctor and I found the one for me. Actually, Ive tried almost EVERY antidepressant out there, including EFFEXOR and nothing works for me the way it use to. Hope that by switching to another medication it will solve your problem.

i had the same problem my doctor put me on cymbalta and it works great
