I don't understand why people see celebs or musicians as Gods or Godesses?

Question:
They're all just like you and I, but are overpaid. I don't understand the hoopla of why people scream at them or faint in their presence. I will admit that when I see a celeb or go to an autograph signing, I do get nervous and excited, but nothing like some people. After they sign, I smile, say "thank you" and walk away. I don't cause a scene. Why do some people?

Answers:
Damn, I'd LOVE to know the answer to that question too! I've seen people dedicate their entire lives to following celebrities. Why? Don't you have your own life to live? Elvis fans are this way, I just don't get it.
My answer is not very popular, but I think its because people are so unhappy with their own family or lives that they vicariously live through the eyes of someone who is perceived as being bigger and better than they are. It is a mental illness. Either that or they are obsessed with having something they know they cannot have. Its a branch of OCD.

Other Answers:
If they are just like you and me, why would you go to an autograph signing to get them to write down their name for you...lol.
You're almost as bad as the ones that make a scene.
I think it's because they see in them (celebrities) the accomplishment of things they (the fans) would like to see in their own lives.
hi....I am agree with you.....I think the same as you do......but some people want to find reasons to think that celebs are the best....
I am the same. I went to a screening of an Arnold Schrartzwhatever movie in L.A. He was there too. The people acted so stupid. I was embarrassed.
That's what Roger Waters based his theme for "The Wall" He was playing a concert once and the audience turned into a bunch of worms. He spit on them. They turn themselves into something lower than humans when they worship another human just beause they can make it in the music business.
me either they are just people as we are. i mean yes they have talents but so do thousands of other people who aint been discovered.
Neither do I, and I have never understood.
My heroes are the everyday people struggling to survive amidst chaotic times.
Perchance, this Idolatry is a root cause of much depression, anxiety, and frustration.
Noting the category you chose, I believe you have a similar insight.
Too many people think they can live this lifestyle and hate themselves for not attaining the wealth or the look of their favorites.
And, I don't think these Idols give a hoot about any of us, just keep the money and promiscuous lifestyle rolling.
Sad desperate people need artists to deify to make their lives more complete. If they aren't causing any harm other than annoying you I think the best idea is to ignore it. What you are is what you choose to be and if you are causing no harm then your alright with me.
I don't they are people to .
